During the colder months it can be a very rewarding time. If you are fortunate enough to catch one on the now less full lakes, you will find the fish not only at their best weights but they are in my opinion in their best colours.
Yes it can be challenging, but also very rewarding.
Personally I love this time of year, as said there's less pressure on the lakes, the nights are longer, but seeing the changes on the lake, the leaves on the trees are stunning in autumn and the wildlife seems to get more courage, robins and squirrels looking for an easy free feed, also another bonus is there's a lot less weed, so we can often fish spots that were a lot more challenging during the warmer months.
It's not for everyone, but wrap up warm and it can be just as enjoyable this time of year, you may be surprised.
